Sleepy Hollow Auxiliary Police Sleepy Hollow Police Department 28 Beekman Avenue Sleepy Hollow, NY 10591 914-631-0800 Sleepyhollow@auxiliary-police.org |
The Sleepy Hollow Auxiliary Police is a volunteer organization dedicated to the preservation of the quality of life within the community, and exists to support the Sleepy Hollow Police Department. This Unit has a long history dating back to the spring of 1942. It was organized, by the then Sleepy Hollow Police Department Chief of Police, to enforce black outs due to World War II. The members are civic-minded citizens who work together to improve the level of safety and security in the community through volunteering their skills and talents to the service of the Sleepy Hollow Police Department. Sleepy Hollow Auxiliary Police members provide a uniform presence at community events, such as, parades, sporting events, and ceremonies; assist with traffic control in the event of emergencies, such as, power outages or floods; act as additional eyes & ears for the regular patrol force; provide an additional uniform resource in the event of a large-scale emergency; and other non-enforcement/non-hazardous duties identified by the Sleepy Hollow Police Department.
