The City of Peekskill Auxiliary Police
The Auxiliary Police Force of The City of Peekskill Police Department is currently expanding to a 20 member force. We are continually looking for candidates who are at least 21 years of age, preferably Peekskill Residents, who are concerned about their community and want to contribute and volunteer 4 hours a week. We are an equal opportunity employer.
An Auxiliary's prime function is to assist the Police Department in handling large groups of people at parades, special events and any other functions where they assist in crowd and traffic control. Auxiliaries can also be deployed in the downtown business district where they will perform "Foot Patrol" in pairs of two and act in the capacity as the eyes and ears of the Police Department. This is particularly effective on Halloween and on the Forth of July as they provide an increased "Uniform Presence" in the downtown business district.
Training consists of approximately 12-16 hours of instruction which includes orientation, training videos and lectures, driving and foot patrol procedures.
